Descrizione Deutsch · English (Inglese)
This large park is an early example of "terra-forming". The area contained an old fortress, quarries and wilderness-areas. Towards the end of the 19th century the famous architect Heinrich von Ferstel suggested to create a park here (because the wind in this area was considered to be important and healthy).
In order to represent various types of alpine landscapes the gardeners dug out valleys and lakes, heaped up hills, built waterfalls and planted forests. You will see many exotic trees on your tour through the area. The park has undergone severe changes in the 20th century and it has lost some of its former "romantic" scenery. The old look-out is still there, but unfortunately it is closed. The park offers a lot of possibilities for modern sports (beach-volleyball, inline-skating, etc.).
Apart from two stages and the cache you'll have to find all necessary points without the help of a GPS. You will need the titles and descriptions of the stages and your imagination. Just keep your eyes open on your walk . The layouts of the park can be quite useful, too.
The park will no longer be closed after nightfall as it used to be.
Public transport: Streetcar 41, Bus 10A, 37A or 40A
The terrain-rating was done with the system. I think it overestimates the terrain.
Stage 1, N1 = 48° 14,049', E1 = 16° 20,175': Sisters
Look for some "bloody" sisters at this place, there number is H.
Stage 2: Woman with a towel
Once this woman was wearing a bronze-bikini, but now she is even more daring: The only thing she has is a towel behind her back. But never mind: Count the numbers of great Xs on the metallic fence in front of the towel-woman. Let the crossfoot of this number be A.
Stage 3 - old: Almost a prophet
For many years a small weather-station used to be here. But after being empty for a long time it has disappeared altogether. Therefore we will not count anything here.
Stage 3 - new: Fuuuury!
Fury (or is it Seabiscuit?) has run away. His master seems to be at a loss as he gazes into the distance. Maybe he is thinking about a piece of music? Count the petals on his musical instrument, divide them by two and take the result as B.
Stage 4: Who dwells in the heart?
This may be difficult for non-german-speaking visitors. If so, try to look up the words in the german description and look for the word with a capital W.
Find out, who dwells in the heart. Convert the first letter into a number (A=1, B=2 ...), divide it by 2 in oder to derive G.
Stage 5: The rock-crystal
Is he alone here? Then C=3.
Is one person with him? Then C=2.
Are two persons with him? Then C=1.
Stage 6: Woman-Power
On which side of the base do you find the artist's name?
On the right side? E=9
In the middle? E=7
On the left side? E=5
Stage 7: The call of the mountain
Take the number of the district you are as x
N7 = N1 + 2*x +1; E7 = E1 + x/6
You are standing at the foot of the "Alps", at least that is what the rocks are meant to symbolize. From this spot walk towards the top of the "mountain" until you see three large alpine trees behind some benches. Take a closer look at the middle one and count the letters of its german name. Let the number be F.
Stage 8: "I hab zwa harbe Rappen"
Again, this may be hard for non-german-speakers. But there is no decent translation for the words, they mean (more or less) "I have two black horses". The hint will tell you whom to look for.
Look at his head.
Unicoloured? Then D=8.
Speckled? Then D=5.
Marbled? Then D=1.
Now you should have all necessary information to go for the cache. The container is a small box that was "Traunfall" in its previous life. Contents: make-shift cache-note, some sheets for logging. NO PENCIL!.
Stage 9 = the Cache: NC= 48° 14,ABC and EC = 16° DE,FGH
The GPS-Signal wasn't extremely good there (8m accuracy).
Please hide it very well again.
Good luck!

A long time ago we went to TSP for the first time, but at the hiding place the reception was too bad to find the hideout, beeing a newcomer.
Today we revisited the park. Again the search for the cache took much more time then solving all the exercises before. At last we turned off the GPSr, extended the search radius and found the cache with the use of the hint and female intuition.
No trade. Thnx.

I found the cache, on my 3. attempt, together with Mathilde. The last time we inspected nearly all possible locations and found nothing. Talking with Gavriel at the 2. GC meeting, we were sure to we looked at the right place. Gavriel checked it and placed a new cache container, the old one was gone.
Thanks to Gavriel for doing that. We came to the cache location, retrieve it, logged it and had delicious lunch at the nearby Meierei.

Going for this cache was an absolute must for me since it contains the word TSP in the title which has a special meaning for me (though a completely different one). I had determined some of the digits already at home when the cache showed up, but nevertheless I visited all stages today just for the fun of it.
When I read the log of schurki with his suggestions for the recommended order of the stages, it occured to me that this cache in the TSP actually gives rises to some kind of on-line form of what is known to me as TSP - what makes the problem really hard is of course that there is no beforehand precise information available about the location of all the stages (though some can be guessed beforehand).
It was a very pleasant walk through a very nice park (another one I have never been in before) at a day with gorgeous weather. The bikini riddle was the hardest for me. The other ones were pretty straightforward. Stage 5 reminded me of a talk I gave in school many years ago. I liked the bloody sisters. Although I am not Viennese, I had no problems with Stage 8. I did not need any hints at all for the intermediary stages - I have to admit, however, that I had a look in advance at the hint for the final cache to avoid arising too much suspicion when looking around for the cache.
It took me about 15 minutes to find the cache, in particular because it took me some time to find a way to approach the cache without behaving very suspiciously. I finally succeeded. The reception was not that good, but fortunately the micro is hidden in a way that it is not too difficult to guess the area where it is hidden once one is sufficiently close. It is true that a larger box would have fitted at this place, but I think that it is better that only a film canister has been used since the probability that a black film canister is found by chance at that place is definitely lower than for a larger box.
I do not agree with schurki regarding the terrain rating. I feel that 2* is appropriate - if a higher rating would have been used already for this cache, then the majority of caches in Styria which are not inside of Graz, would have to be rated by 4* though their difficulties are extremely diverse.
The cache and its contents are in good condition, but it is not that easy to close the film canister again after because it is quite fully packed. (So I was faced with yet another online OR problem. Probably geocaching will once become a separate area of application for OR tools .)
Thanks for another creative cache out of the ordinary.
No trade.

Met Grisu (unvoluntary) and DoFloJoLiRa (intended) at starting point. Expected warm weather didn't appear, but at least the temp was above zero. Wandered through the whole park twice, some paved walks almost triple. Esp. women's liberation was almost unremarkable. But Veronika and Dunja, our own women of power suceeded in finding the cache. Greetings to Grisu, have you succeeded at last ?
DuFloJoLiRa: in wooden pearl / out red glass drop;
Bevema: in 2 cent greek / out dice; in 5 cent greek / out blue owl ( 2 children --> two times traded). Thx to Gavriel for the good riddles on the way, an unusual way wit so little positions and so much to solve.
