Peilstein

Am Weg zu Station 4 des Lab-Caches hier vorbei gekommen und das Logbuch signiert.

Im Zuge des Peilsteinkraxlers auch hier vorbeigekommen und mit Wandervogel510 die Dose rasch gefunden 😃

Heute bin ich mittags vom Thalhofergrat entlang des gleichnamigen Multis auf den Peilstein gewandert - in noch erstaunlich tiefem Schnee! Die andere Flanke des Peilstein ist derzeit schon komplett aper, aber dort im Wald hat sich der Winter noch nicht ganz vertreiben lassen - dementsprechend still und einsam wars unterwegs, was sich dann rasch mit Erreichen der Gipfelgegend geändert hat...

Vielen Dank fürs Rauflocken und den Cache, dem es ausgezeichnet geht! 

ein rascher Fund. Bei Neuschnee ist es besonders schön hier.

Cachen, nein danke meanwhile waited for us at the summit cross. As I was too lazy to enter the coordinates into my GPS-r I simply followed AnnaMoritz. While MoritzRabe and myself inspected wrong hideouts, AnnaMoritz had found the cache at my "next to look at candidate". The cache is in good condition and the second log book offers plenty of space for many more visits to this cache which is very suitable to be combined with the Arnstein multi cache.

While we hardly met any people on the way up (except the four young people close to the Arnstein needle), the area around the hut was quite crowded. Many people were busy with preparations for the event tomorrow. We even saw the ponies that were brought up for the pony riding.

After having found the cache, we enjoyed the view at the summit cross for a while and then went over to the hut and went up the new watchout tower which apparently also serves as emergency exit for the hut.
When we walked up the broad hiking trail that leads up to the summit, I was not expecting such a rocky summit area. It was definitely worth the effort to continue our walk further up even this part of the walk (along the hiking trail up to the Peilstein hut) was quite boring for MoritzRabe.


On the way back to the hut Cachen, nein danke, AnnaMoritz and MoritzRabe tried to walk over the slackline, but did not manage to reach the other side while I decided immediately that I would not even manage one step and so refrained from giving it a try. MoritzRabe also experimented with some other objects on the playground.

All in all I enjoyed the afternoon hike inspired by two M.W. caches and in nice company very much.

PS: I forgot to mention that I think that T=3* overrates the T-difficulty even when one starts near Holzschlag except for the case that one combines this cache with the Arnstein multi cache.

Nach dem Arnstein durch ein Meer von Baerlauch weiter marschiert und schliesslich mit Hilfe des Spoilerbildes die Dose gefunden. GPS Empfang war ziemlich sprunghaft und den Hint hatte ich etwas anders interpretiert. Jede menge Kletterer beobachtet und auch viele Spaziergaenger waren heute unterwegs. Es gab netterweise eine (ziemlich steile) Variante fuer den Rueckweg zum Parkplatz.

Als Endpunkt des Peilsteinausflugs lag diese Dose fast am Weg, durch auffällige Tarnung war sie auch leicht zu finden. Tolle Aussicht vom Gipfelkreuz übers Land. TFTC

Nach dem Arnstein gings mit hüwü, flaky und harrylime auch noch auf den Peilstein. Die Dose war rasch gefunden, aber das war irgendwie zweitrangig. Weil das Gebiet da oben und die Aussicht waren toll. Nachdem wir das ausgiebig genossen hatten, gings zurück zum Auto. Danke für die Wanderung.

Mit maxi2001 um 17:00 geschwitzt, geschnauft und gefunden sowie mit letzter kraft gehoben. Und jetzt ein kühles helles ahhh..
Herrliche gegend und supper wetter, ein schöner alpin cache so nahe bei wien. Danke fürs verstecken.

Vom Thalhofergrat kommend konnte ich diesen Bonuscache am Gipfel einfach nicht widerstehen.

Runter gings dann gegen den Uhrzeigersinn um die Wände herum.

We wanted to start with Thalhofergrat, but we were blind and not able to find stage 1. Therefore we proceeded to Peilstein, which we found without any troubles.

Anfangs hatte ich einige technische Probleme, das GPS wollte nicht so ganz wie ich. Nachdem diese aber gelöst waren, ging es an die Suche. Das Versteck ist sehr originell und hat so seine Tücke. Ich hatte einige Probleme den Cachebehälter aus dem Versteck zu bekommen, aber mit einem Trick hat es dann ganz gut funktioniert.
Aufgrund des schlechten Wetters ging sich leider der "Schwestercache" Arnstein nicht aus.

We found this cache on a beautiful sunday morning. Despite of the impressive rocks very close, the cache is also nearly a drive-in with a stroller. When looking at the rocks, I decided to revitalize the big pile of rock climbing equipment lost somewhere in my basement...

Found it (about 30 m off my coordinates) mainly due to the fact that I already know one of M.W.'s other caches [:)].
There were construction works going on nearby so the place was not as lonesome as I would have liked (I don't like being watched when playing the ape). On the edge the view was very good, but the wind blew me away from there.
So I went to have tasty "Buchtln and Vanilla-Sauce" before returning [:)].
