Herrenkogel

Dose untergegangen. Platz für einen Reload schaffen.

Ein willkommener Zwischenstopp am Weg von Weitental über Hochanger und Bei den drei Pfarren Rictung Wetterkogel, Hochalm, Almwirt, Pöllasattel und Fensteralm. D1 stört mich am Berg gar nicht, danke für den leicht zu findenen Cache.

Mit LaVic und Rutschger via Gamsgraben und Wetterkogel diesen Gipfel besucht.
Den an und für sich langweiligen Forststrassenhatscher zurück in den Gamsgraben haben wir mit ein paar Abkürzungen, Schneeballschlachten und sonstigen Kleinigkeiten unterhaltsamer gestaltet.

This was my second cache today after Gert's Hoch! cache at the Wetterkogel. After a short break at Gert's cache I continued directly to this cache. After a short and nice walk I arrived at the summit of the Herrenkogel. Upon my arrival a couple was having a break there, but fortunately they left soon and so I could start my search. I found the cache quickly. Today the container was also dry from the outside and in good condition overall. Judging from the size of the container, Rhodo Dendron does not seem to belong to the type of male hikers who take enormous amounts of food with them. Fortunately, the containers Gert is recently using do not need to be used for his provisions - otherwise he evantually might become quite twiggy

As I was not eager for adventures of the type Gert experienced, I decided to take the same route back to my car at the Rossstall parking lot, again via Almwirt.

All in all it was nice hike, only at the last part back to my car I wished I would have had a bicycle with me and that riding a bike would be legal there. (BTW: I do not understand at all why riding a bike on this large road is not allowed.) On my way up the forest road part of the walk seemed to be shorter than on my way back. Nevertheless I do not regret to have started in the Gamsgraben. The route is very quiet - I only met a large car of a fire engine which was driving down while I was walking up to the Almwirt. I did not meet any other people, but could observe many beautiful butterflies and nice flowers and also some mushrooms (I do not know whether it is forbidden to pick up mushrooms in this area - further up there are several prohibition signs - it appears that the Mayr Melnhof Saurau clan apparently needs a lot of mushrooms.) I particularly liked the part where path 12 does not follow the forest road. A very idyllic place.

Thank you for hiding this nice olde style cache at this nice place that motivated me to continue to the Herrenkogel. Caches like this one are the ones that brought me into caching back in 2002. What a relief that still caches of this type are hidden and not just caches at idiotic places in shopping centres and other caches of that type.
