Description
The webcam is close to the Museum of Photography and the Reykjavik Art Museum.
Hafnarhús is located in the oldest part of Reykjavik, where the town’s boats and first docks lay.
The building was erected in the 1930s and at the time it was one of the largest buildings in the country.
On the old shoreline, in front of the old harbour warehouse, there is a statue commemorating
all those that have
lost their lives at sea around the Icelandic coastline over the last one
hundred plus years.
The statue shows two fishermen looking out to sea and is
indeed called ‘Looking Seawards’ by Ingi P. Gilason.
It was unveiled on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the port on the 60th Icelandic "Seafarers' Day" in 1997. The monument is inscribed
"Those who acknowledge your name will trust in you, for
you, Lord, do not abandon those who seek
you” Psalms 9:10
This is located adjacent to a series of maps showing shipping losses separated
decade by decade
and includes information on vessel type, nationality, location
and date of the loss.
Few tourists make their way to the long and winding Sculpture and Shore Walk that circles most of Reykjavik.
This coastal path features several spots for enjoying pretty ocean vistas.

Finally, back in Iceland after 10 years!
Iceland was the first foreign country that I cached in. Now the active volcano brought me back to this wonderful country!
On the first full day of my time in Iceland, I went on a hike to see the
volcano, even though it was inactive. After the hike, finding some more
caches and returning to Reykjavik, even more caches waited in Reykjavik
to be found.
One of them was this Webcam-Cache, where I took the required photo by making a screenshot on my Smartphone.

In a forum an owner advertised his opencaching caches these days. Hey, some are in Iceland where I was only a few days ago. I did not expect Opencaching.de caches in Iceland so I didn't look for them.
Please accept my photo although it is not from the webcam. I think the meaning of the cache is fulfilled.
Great island, this Iceland
Thank you for the cache
