Note Listing! The dragon of the Seealpsee

The cache is not available in winter, because the road is sometimes blocked due to the danger of avalanches and the cache mechanism can be frozen.
- Please do not use force,
- Proceed slowly and non-violently, without momentum.
- Supervise children.
- Do not put your fingers in slits or crevices.
- Do not pick up large, heavy stones.
- Please don't the yellow sign, it has nothing to do with the cache!
As always, you do the cache at your own risk.
The cache is in the nature reserve "Allgäuer Hochalpen", it isn't necessary to leave the paths. The path forks shortly before crossing the Gleitbach and comes back together shortly afterwards. The wide upper path leads through a ford. Please take the lower narrow path, which leads over a footbridge. About 3m before the footbridge, coming up the valley, on the left side between the parallel paths, you will see a 20 x 20 cm stainless steel sign on the vertical surface of a rock. The story of the cache is clearly visible there, also for Muggles. Please never camouflage them. If you fold the board up, you will find the cache description for geocachers there. The cache container is not a PETling, but an aluminum can with a diameter of 4.5 cm. The mechanics may be frozen in frost. Please do not destroy the cache in this case, but contact me or, better still, visit the cache at frost-free temperatures. Thanks! Pictures from your tour are always welcome. Please do not upload any images from the cache yourself. Thanks.

Path options:

In short: (The given terrain assessment applies only to this variant)
From Oberstdorf via the Trettachtal and Oytal by bike or on foot to the cache You can get back to Oberstdorf from the Oytalhaus with rental scooters.

Longer and only for experienced, sure-footed and with suitable boundary conditions:
Round over the Nebelhornbergstation, Seealpsee and glide path. The glide path is very nice, but has already required some rescue operations. Please only do this path if you know what you are doing and under no circumstances, if snow fields make the path impassable.
Greetings Johannis10 from the northern Black Forest

The dragon of the Seealpsee:

The clear, quiet Seealpsee lies high above the Oytal at the foot of the Seeköpfe. It is of immense depth. Allegedly, the depth should correspond to the valley floor of Oberstdorf. According to an old legend, there is a sleeping dragon on its bottom. One day, when the time comes, it will eat through the rock walls that close the lake from the Oytal, and then Oberstdorf will be drowned by the erupting floods of water and great suffering will arise. But that should happen when the "Oberstdorfer Fest" (patronage), that is St. John's Day, falls on Corpus Christi day. But before that could happen, a brave fellow threw a heavy stone into the lake and woke the monster. It shot up with an angry snort. But the boy said boldly to the dragon: "Just be friendly, that will not only please people, it will also make you happy." Since then, on some days you can see the happy dragon sitting by the side of the road with a friendly smile.

Wieder prima "Teil'.
VIELEN DANK an Johannis10 fürs Legen, Herführen und Pflegen. 🙂
