Stage 1 (Natural Gas Infrastructure)

At this stage you will find infrastructure for regulating the pressure of natural gas that is supplied to the residential area. Find a plaque showing the year when this infrastructure was built. 

The individual numbers of the year are coded as ABCD. The next stage can be found at the coordinates:

N 49° 3D. (A+1) A (C-3)
E 10° 36. (C-3) B (A-1)

Stage 2 (Electricity, Communication and Water infrastructure)

At this stage you find an electricity distribution box, and next to it a so-called Outdoor-DSLAM where Deutsche Telekom is terminating the DSL internet connections of the area. On the electricity distribution box there is a number with three digits clearly visible, which we will call T.

Very close by there is a street lamp post, with plaques, among them one showing information about a water hydrant and pipes going under the street level. The indicated size of the water hydrant's pipe in millimeters will be designated as H.

Stage 3 (Obsolete communication infrastructure)

At this position you will find a legacy telecommunication equipment which is no longer often found in Germany's streets. Use it and dial the number 0800 CACHE (= 0800 22243) to get to know the final coordinates.

Stage 4 final (Surface water infrastructure)

The cache is found close to infrastructure helping to avoid flooding. No need to enter any restricted or fenced-off areas.
