Gedenkstätte Wöbbelin

Dieser Micro bringt dich an einen Ort, an dem an eines der dunkelsten Kapitel deutscher Geschichte erinnert und seiner Opfer gedacht wird. Es handelt sich um das ehemalige Konzentrationslager Wöbbelin. This micro cache leads you to a place which reminds of one of the darkest chapters of German history and its victims. The place is the former concentration camp Wöbbelin.

Das Denkmal wurde am 2. Mai 2005 eingeweiht, sechzig Jahre nach der Befreiung des Konzentrationslagers Wöbbelin durch amerikanische Soldaten. Der Gedenkstein befindet sich am früheren Rand des Lagers und erinnert an die über 5000 Häftlinge aus Belgien, Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien, den Niederlanden, Polen, der Sowjetunion, der Tschechoslowakei,  Tunesien und Ungarn und die mehr als 1000 Opfer unter ihnen, die hier starben.

Aus Pietätsgründen sollte dieser Cache NICHT in Drive-In-Manier erledigt werden. Ebenso wenig ist es erforderlich, an dieser Stätte umfangreich alle möglichen Cacheverstecke abzuklopfen. Ganz bewusst haben wir uns hier entschieden, einen eindeutigen Suchhinweis und ein Spoilerbild anzugeben. Wir bitten jeden, der sich auf diese Zeitreise begibt, dies mit dem nötigen Respekt den Toten gegenüber und im Bewusstsein der Schrecklichkeit dieses Ortes zu tun.

The monument was inaugurated on May 2nd, 2005, sixty years after the liberation of the concentration camp Wöbbelin  by American soldiers. The memorial stone is situated at the former edge of the camp and reminds of the more than 5,000 prisoners from Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, the Soviet Union and Tunisia and the more than 1,000 victims among them who died there.

For reasons of piety this cache should NOT be finished in the manner of drive-in. Just as little it is necessary to look into and under any possible hiding-place. Very deliberately we have decided in this case to give a definite hint and a spoiler picture. We entreat everybody who is willing to go on this historical journey to do this with all the respect against the dead persons and in the conciousness of the frightfulness of this place.
