Description Deutsch · English
The castle Hochaltstätten was built on the hill Buschel in the beginning of the 13th century.
It was used by the nobels of Altstätten as a residential house and as a base. The tower was destroyed in the Appenzeller wars in the beginning of the 15th century. Today, you can see a wall that was excavated between 1975-1991.
Various scenic hiking trails lead to the cache, which is at a height of 900 m above sea level. Hiking time on safe trails (but not suitable for wheel chairs) is about 1-1.5 h. We suggest the Gesa or Kapf as starting point, in addition the cache can be reached by descending from St.Anton.
Please take care of the ruin, the forest, and hide the cache thorougly, too.
The cache is not directly at the ruin. In case of bad gps signal, you can bear from the plaque: 20m under 75°.
