In the center of Durango, this porch is here since the eighteenth century ,contemplating the children playing, merchants, buses and hundreds of other activities that found refuge in this square (and continue to do).
The porch underwent an important restoration after the Bombardment of Durango the 31 of March of 1937, in the middle of the Spanish Revolution.
Its draws large arches on which supports the deck. It is, in fact, the largest in Europe.
Enjoy it for a while and delight yourself with a beautiful and particular example of Basque structural carpentry.
To register, publish a photo of yourself or your GPS from inside the porch and send me a message with the answer to the following questions:
1- How many stone pillars is the portico supported in?
2- How many meters of light (in length) have the arches coming out of the sides of the church door? Keep in mind that a meter is more or less a stride of a tall person or a well-opened stride of a short person.
3- What kind of wood are the beams?
You can register it directly, when I receive the email I will answer you if necessary. If I consider that the answers have nothing to do with reality, I will erase the record.
Regards and thanks for coming here.
