MMT - Die Rettung

We would like to invite you to a magical mystery tour through Bavaria, to places often historical, many a time idyllic, but always with this special kind of magic and charisma.

Our very first stop leads us to an idyllic solitary chapel, hidden deep in between meadows and woods.

The whole round trip is 3,5 km long. During the summer months you can also go for a swim on the way.

The Catholic pilgrimage church was built from 1688 to 1690, and re-furnished 100 years later. From November to March the chapel is only accessible at the weekends and when the weather is fine.

The history of its foundation is the following:

During murderous war times, presumably during the "Thirty Years' War", soldiers on horseback hunted a man uphill and down dale. Finally the man reached a small clearing, where he fell down to his knees and prayed to Maria the holy to rescue him from his enemies. He stumbled a few more meters and unexpectedly fell into a whole, which was covered by grass. And this was how he was hidden from his pursuers and luckily saved. In deep gratitude he instructed to build a chapel at the place of this rescue.
