Vineyard Zurich Sonnenberg (NFC-Cache)

On the Sonnenberg in Zurich, there is a nice little park with a playground and a small vineyard. Both have been owned by the city of Zurich since 1897 and are accessible to all. In the vineyard Blauburgunder grapes is grown since 1984. In total there are about 5'050 vines. From the park you also have a very nice view over the city and Lake Zurich.

NFC-Cache

This cache is an NFC cache. NFC stands for "Near Field Communication" and describes a radio technology over a very short distance (usually a vew centimeter). At the coordinates you will find an NFC tag instead of a cache-box. This is a small sticker in which a microchip and an antenna is inserted. You can contact the tag whit a NFC enabled device. Many current smartphones have this capability. Hold the smartphone close to the tag, the tag receives power from the smartphone and there is a brief data exchange.

Find the tag

Go to the Sonnenberg Terrace on the level of the shell fountain and the playground. The fountain is located at the northern end. From there, count 2 park benches to the south and sit on the north end of the bench. The NFC tag sticks under the bench's westernmost straight plank (while sitting the bench, its on the second from the front) at the northern end.
It's possible to contact the tag through the wood. So you just need to put your device on the bench.

For the case that the tag is broken or the bench is occupied, there is a second tag on the 4th bench from north.

Handicap

I appreciate the cache so that it can be found both by wheelchair and by cacher with visual impairment (thanks to the description above). As far as I'm informed, the app should also be able to be used by voice output. But I gladly accept feedback.

Log this cache

For this NFC cache, the log is located on the NFC tag. In order consider the cache to be found, you must save your nickname and the current date on the NFC tag. The easiest way is with an NFC enabled Android device on which you have installed the app "NFCMessageBoard".

Usage of the app NFCMessageBoard

1. Install the app from F-Droid or Play Store.
2. Read the tag by holding the NFC sensor of your device near the tag while the app is open. You now see the existing log entries.
3. Enter your short text and your nickname. Check that the tick is set on "Enable Timestamp".
4. Click on "ADD MSG" and bring the NFC sensor again close to the tag.
5. Now your entry is saved. You can control that by reading the tag again.

Alternative Apps

You can also log with another app. Please note, however, that most apps overwrite the data on the NFC tag. In doing so, the logs of the previous finder will be deleted! Please make sure you only add to the previous logs and do not overwrite them. That's why the difficulty rating of the cache is set to 3 stars! Thank you.

Issues

If something goes wrong and the data was overwritten or deleted on the tag that is not tragic. Just send me a quick email or "Requires Maintenance" log and I'll fix it as soon as possible.
