Klenkes 2005 - Grenzenlos

Three countries meet in one point - a quite rare geographic constellation. Germany, for example, has 7 such triangles, Belgium has only 3 and The Netherlands just 1. These days we can enjoy the area without frontiers. Thanks to the EU, we can freely move to and fro those borders. As we all know from the past or from other borders, this is is quite extraordinary.

It is of some historic interest that this 3-state point once had even been a 4-state point. From 1815 until 1919, not only Prussia/Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands met here but also the micro-state of "Neutral-Moresnet". This little country (comprising only about 270 ha) was created after The Netherlands and Prussia fought over mining rights in the area, a conflict which they could not resolve otherwise.

Ok, let's get to the cache:

You can park near the above coordinates, not for free in the Netherlands, for free in Belgium. You have to find 6 clues in total, each containing a single digit in the range from 0 to 9. With one exception, all clues are of the form GC n, with n being a single digit number. None of the clues is directly hidden at the ground - so you don't need to do any obvious digging. No clue needs to be moved from its position!

The first three clues are in direct vicinity of the border triangle point and not too far from it - one for each country.

• Digit A can be found in about half of Germany.

• Digit B is located in Belgium, very marginally, and would have been in Neutral-Moresnet 150 years ago.

• Digit C followed a different line, with the Netherlands, or was it Germany? The clue needs to be replaced. Until then, C=A-D-2*F.

• Find the band of the three highest brothers. One will tell you No. F.

• Getting lost is quite possible near N50°45.287' E006°01.123'. But whoever follows the borderline will stay on track, won't (s)he? Find digit E.

• N50°45.211' E006°01.273'. Digit D here.

Off you go to the cache at N50°44.ABC' und E006°01.DEF'. It is best to follow the borderline path. The final clue to the cache can also be found at the given point, at the same .... but in another .....! (Two words on the cache.)

Please beware of muggles! Please open the cache box only in the intended way WITHOUT making use of a tool! It's really not that difficult...

Afterwards, just continue along the trail until you reach a junction with a path leading directly back towards the triangle point.
