Beschreibung
About the location
The university town of Keszthely on Lake Balaton is a town with a long history. Archaeological finds suggest that the Celts and Romans settled here. In 1421 the town was granted town charter. In the 18th and 19th centuries the town flourished again thanks to the Festetics family, who built their castle here. In the last century, tourism and various festivals contributed significantly to the boom. The most famous sights are Festetics Castle at Helikon Park (with a historical model railway exhibition), the chestnut avenue, a Sissi statue, the Balaton Museum and the Marzipan Museum.
About the cache
It is also nice to just walk along the atmospheric beach promenade. There is also a large sign with the name of the town, from which you have a great view of Lake Balaton and can take great selfies. Take a photo of yourself or an object of your choice next to the sign and/or with the view and add it to your log.
