Quer durch Oefte

This cache is one of our favorite hikes and goes through Oefte.

You can let your car at the above-mentioned coordinates. The cache-tour is NO circular route and the way is about 10 km. You should be a bit fit. The cache is not suitable for baby carriages. You can meets mountain biker on the whole way. Near the cache is a suburban line station. You can travel the two stops back to Werden (Price: A). Monday to Friday from 5.15 a.m. until 7.55 p.m. every 20 minutes. Thereafter until 0.55 a.m. every 30 minutes. On Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 5:25 a.m. to 0:55 a.m. every 30 minutes. There is the possibility to take a short cut over a rail, but this is forbidden and very dangerous. Point 1 to 4 can be made by car. At one point you have to go over a street without a pavement (the walk is also along this street). Most of the way is asphalted, but at some points it could be muddy if it rained. If you do the way with a bike you can drive back on the “Leinpfad” directly at the Ruhr. Our “Betatester” recommends this tour as a middle-demanding mountainbike-tour.

The coordinates above are somewhere on the Park and Ride place at Essen-Werden. You can also arrive there with the train S6 or with the buses 169, 180, 190, SB 19. If you arrive with a bus we recommend to get off the bus at the stop “Werden-Markt”. At this stop one can make the cache “Gotteshäuser-St. Ludgerus”.

At all coordinates/calculations the decimal places are three-digits . If necessary you have to fill in leading zeros.

Stage 1: The Cachetour starts at N 51°23,166 E 7°00,279. Count the stairs. The number is A.

Stage 2: You have to go upstairs. The next station is at N 51°23,000 E 7°00,A*30. How many permanently installed table-tennis tables can you see? The number is B.

Stage 3: At N 51°22,A*B*39 -4 E 7°00,A*B + 3 you see a house. The year of building is C.

Stage 4: Continue your walk left (direction SSE, later East), a bit uphill into the forest.

At N 51°22,C-1296 E 6°59,C/B there is spoken about a woman. Calculate the position of each letter in the alphabet and make the sum. The result is D.

The name of the cache is “THROUGH OEFTE”. Because you started in the east you now have to go to the west. From here, all points start with N 51° and E 006°. Furthermore you can now follow the way X. Therefore you don’t have to look permanently on your GPS.

Stage 5: At N 22,D+50 and E 58,C-823 you will get the next coordinates.

Stage 6: You don’t need to calculate anything. Follow the X – it’s the more beautiful way.

Stage 7: Add up all figures on the blue signs you can see from your position (only the frontside) and get X (75a for example has to be counted as 75).

Stage 8: N 20, (X+B)*18+1 E 57, (X+1)*10+1. At this point you will get new coordinates.

Stage 9: At this point you can see a sign which has six edges. On this sign you see an information of the distance to Kettwig. This decimal fraction (figure with decimal place) multiplied by 10 is Y.

Stage 10: At N 21,C/5-Y-2*B E 56, [ B ][A-1] [A-1] you will find a three-digit number, which we placed there. This number is Z. With this number you can find the cache at N21,Z-D-A-B-19 E56,Z-D-139 .
