Çok eski zamanlardan beri değirmenciler ve yerel halk yel değirmenlerini, buğday öğütmek ve su pompalamak gibi işler için mekanik güç elde etmekte kullanılmışlardır. Rüzgar Değirmenleri kültürel değerlerin korunması açısından Datça’nın en önemli kültürel değerlerinden biridir. Bölgede 19 adet Yel Değirmeni bulunmaktadır.
