Kilim dokumacılığı “Istar” denilen tezgahlarda çoğunlukla kadınlar tarafından yapılır. Kilim, bilinen en eski dokuma türlerinden biridir. Kilim dokumak saygın bir halk sanatıdır. Türkiye’de doğal boya (kök boya) ve yün el yapımı kilimler kültürel bir olgudur.
Kilimler geçmişte Avrupa ülkeleriyle ilişkileri pekiştirmek adına kral ve kraliçelere, ordu komutanlarına hediye olarak da yollanmıştır
