Das Prager Metronom ist eine künstlerische Installation von Vratislav Karel Novák (1942–2014), welches am 15. Mai 1991 auf dem übrig gebliebenen Sockel des 1962 zerstörten Stalin-Denkmals im Prager Letná-Park errichtet wurde. Das umgangssprachlich als „Metronom“ bezeichnete Kunstwerk heißt eigentlich „Time Machine“ (Stroj času). Die Installation symbolisiere den unerbittlichen Lauf der Zeit und sei eine Warnung zur Erinnerung an die Vergangenheit. Das „Metronom“ ist von der Prager Altstadt sehr gut zu sehen.
Anlässlich der Tschechische EU-Ratspräsidentschaft 2009 diente das „Metronom“ zur Visualisierung des Beginns der tschechischen Ratspräsidentschaft.
The Metronome is a 75-foot-tall (23 m) functioning metronome in Letná Park, overlooking the Vltava River and the city center of Prague. It was erected in 1991, on the plinth left vacant by the demolition in 1962 of an enormous monument to former Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. The metronome was designed by international artist Vratislav Novak.
Although the metronome is functional, it is not always in operation. The site is now mostly a scenic vista and a meeting place for young people.

Mit meiner Käschine habe ich einen kleinen Ausflug nach Prag gemacht. Das hier ist unser erster Cache diesem Wochenende.
Schöne Aussicht, aber gerade knallt die Sonne so doll, dass man die Aussicht nicht lange genießen kann. Dafür erinnern die Bauten vorne im Park an ein Festival.
Danke AKaKiKo fürs verstecken und herlocken.

Ein sehr interessanter Ort.
Hier saß ich in der sengenden Hitze mit olafz und wir beobachteten die Paraglider mit ihren bunten Schirmen.

We had a nice walk through the city today. My wife stopped counting after ~200 steps up here and while she already went to the Metronom, I wend to the cache and noted the logging password. Thanks a lot for this cache.
