Grube 7

The old stone crusher is the last relict of the old quarry "Grube 7".

"Grube 7" was a limestone quarry. From 1899 to 1966, up to 720000 tons of limestone where produced here yearly.

After stopping the limestone production, the quarry was used to regulate the groundwater level in this area. Water, which was pumped out of the near quarry in Hahnenfurt, was seeped here in "Grube 7".

Since 1997, "Grube 7" is a nature protection area and an important biotop for rare plants and animals.

The stone crusher

At the coordinates of the listing you'll find the ruin of the old stone crusher. Parts of the crusher are under the ground and filled up today.

The cache

At the stone crusher, you will find an information board. On the lower right corner of the board, a page number "AB" is printed.

Important: There is no need to climb over fences or to enter the quarry in any way!

The track

After visiting the cache, it's recommended to take the (nicer) way around the quarry instead of the (shorter) way directly back to the parking location. You can combine this cache with the Earthcache Grube 7.
