Nobody will argue that we need mobile GPS receivers for our hobby. But probably everyone of us had already had a problem with inaccurate coordinates. Whether they come from the GPS receiver or not carefully measured coordinates by the owner is difficult to tell.
In case your GPS receiver is the problem, you will find it out here! At the given coordinates you will find the first public reference point for GPS receivers in the city of Bremerhaven.[reference]
log conditions:
Visit the reference point. Put your GPS receiver on the middle of the plate and compare your coordinates with the ones shown on the plate. Please comment on the accuracy of your machine in your log entry (ideally with mentioning the type of GPS you are using). If you can also provide a picture, it is even better.
The stone pillar with the metal plate on it is surrounded by cobblestones. The number of stones is needed as a password (two digits) to log this cache online.
By the way, my GPS (Garmin etrex 30) gave me the following data:
coordinates: N 53° 32.704' E 008° 34.304'
altitude: -10 m
The accuracy of the coordinates is good enough for me. The altitude was less satisfying ...

Heute mit Frau und Schwiegermutter nach Fischtown gefahren. Während die Damen shoppen waren, habe ich ein paar Caches eingesammelt - dieser hier war der einzige auf dieser Plattform...
Nachdem mein Smartphone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 11Pro 5G) sich eingependelt hatte, hatte ich diese Koordinaten auf dem Display:
N53° 32.704 E008° 34.304 - bei einer angeblichen Entfernung von 0,36 m zum Ziel bei mittig aufgelegtem Handy hätte es mich auch gewundert, wenn die Koordinaten nicht ziemlich genau gepasst hätten. Die Abweichung allerdings wurde mit 3,87 m angezeigt.

Nach längerer Zeit hatten sich die Kinder mal wieder einen Ausflug nach Bremerhaven gewünscht. Dank Autobahnsperrung ging es dann nach dem Frühstück zügig los. Auch das Wetter hielt von strahlendem Sonnenschein bis Schauer alles bereit. Unterwegs sind wir dann auch an diesem GPS-Refferenzpunkt vorbeigekommen. Die Abweichung betrug 3,34 Meter. Alles in allem also ein interessanter und abwechslungsreicher Ferientag.

Bremerhaven - Tag 2
Für das Wochenende hat es uns nach Bremerhaven verschlagen. Sightseeing, Shopping und Entspannung stehen da an erster Stelle. So gab es heute - nach dem Besuch des Zoos - einen kleinen Abstecher zum GPS-Referenzpunkt. Die Aufgaben konnten dabei gut erledigt werden, bevor es weiter Richtung Schleuse zum Beobachten eines Schleusenvorganges ging.
Mit unserem Smartphone haben wir eine Abweichung von 3,8 m gemessen (Koordinaten N53 32.702 E008 34.304).
