Leider ist der Rio Velez stark ausgetrocknet, so dass man problemlos sogar im Flussbett wandern kann. Er liegt in der Axarquia und die einfache Zufahrt zur Flussmündung erfolgt über die Strandpromenade von Torre del Mar.
