Die Pfarrgemeinde St. Apollonia ist noch recht jung. Sie wurde erst 1969 gegründet, als das Eilendorfer Oberdorf immer weiter ausgebaut wurde und St. Severin allein nicht mehr ausreichte. Benannt ist die Kirche nach Apollonia von Alexandrien. Als man sie zur Zeit Kaiser Philipp des Arabers (244-249) bei einem Christenprogrom auf den Scheiterhaufen werfen wollte, stürzte sie sich selbst in den Tod.

Apollonia von Alexandrien wird dargestellt als jungfräuliche Märtyrin mit Palme, Zange und Zahn und ist auf der Fronstseite der Kirche abgebildet. Sie ist die Schutzpatronin der Zahnärzte.

Parken könnt ihr in unmittelbarer Nähe der Kirche; mit dem Bus zu erreichen über die Linie 2 (Haltestelle Apolloniaweg).
