Description
During the War of the Austrian Succession the French sieged Freiburg in 1744 and their King Louis XV of France observed the cannonade from Lorettoberg. According to an agreement between the opponents, the German gunners would not fire at Louis, and the French promised not to bombard the minster. Nevertheless one German canon ball was shot to Lorettoberg, missed the king, and hit a chapel. This canon ball can still be found today above one of the chapel's side doors. In legend an other bullet was shot to Lorettoberg, too. Find the second one in a bearing of 259° from the chapel in 88 m distance.
