Parkhotel

The Volksgarten is an old park in the city of Duesseldorf. It dates from the 19th Century : that was during the Industrial Revolution. Approximately 11 hectares of land have been withdrawn from the possession of the Graf Family Arenberg in 1892, acquired by the city. The construction of the park was expressly stipulated in the purchase contract . The trees of the Volksgarten is sometimes very old, and this is properly impressive. Until 1987 the Volksgarten consisted as a very natural park. Then the Bundesgartenschau came to Duesseldorf, and the city decided to construct an entirely new design. Südpark, Schrebergartensiedlung Stoffeln, Stoffeler Friedhof (a part of it) and the Volksgarten were part of the planning . In this form the grounds of the Bundesgartenschau  exsist until today and hopefully a long time.

The Volksgarten serves the citizens today as a popular sport and recreation area. There are many possibilities with  benches and tables where you can picnic and play. Some people also seem to be "permanently" in the park  .... not quite voluntary. Surely, however,  the park is a "Hotel" for many animals . For example, the tree where I first wanted to hide the cache as a "Small" , was the sleeping place for a small hedgehog. And the second tree was to prepaired to be "killed" .... that would be only a short life for the cache.  So the proposed "Small" changed only into a "Micro". For it  a small dwelling  has been found in a tree.
