Sierra Cabrilla

La Sierra Cabrilla o de la Cabrilla forma, junto con la vecina Sierra Prieta, la continuación hacia el este, de la Sierra de las Nieves.

El conjunto es un enorme macizo calizo de gran belleza paisajistica y una delicia para los montañeros que quieran aventurarse en el camino hacia sus cumbres.

Puedes incluso hallar en la vertiente norte, un naciente conjunto de pinsapos que adornan la subida, entre un verdor inusual.

El topónimo de este lugar parece indicar que pudo tratarse de un lugar poblado de esos hervíboros, las cabras, lo que pudo dar indudable orígen a ello. Sin embargo, otra version igualmente creible viene a decir, que el nombre deriva de la distorsion liguística de una observación óptica ya que esta sierra, dada su naturaleza caliza y observada al atardecer desde El Burgo o Yunquera, parece una “sierra que brilla”.
