Bühler Tal - Ende Gelände

During the 1980s there were plans to build a dam and flood this valley as a reservoir of cooling water for power plants down the Neckar, especially the nuclear plant of Neckarwestheim. Resistance from the citizens finally lead to drop of plans. As the valley is in uncommonly original state, including a rich fauna and flora with a number of endangered species, it was turned into a nature reserve area in 1993. You will find an idyllic landscape and a nice view to the Wurmlingen chapel on the way.

Stay on the ways while in the nature reserve, leaving them is prohibited. The cache itself is outside of the reserve area.

Straightforward walk from one of the parking sites or the bus stop, or take the variant below in one direction for a round trip. Paved ways until 500 m before the cache, dirt road for the rest. Bikes are allowed the whole way, less sturdy ones may need to be parked at the end of paving.

Variant:

An alternative route leads from Bühl up through the Sengental valley and down along an abandonded old hiking path to the cache. This path is still shown on some maps, and there are some remains of waymarks and railings, but it is more of a cross-country hike between points V3 and V5 nowadays. Terrain 3 this way, not suitable for bikes and strollers. If you choose this route, follow these waypoints:
