Klaus

The way to the cache and back to the parking is around 5.5 km long. The paths are in good condition, but in parts quite small and too steep for buggies. The locations of the different stations you have to pass are obvious and you can reach all by paths. Only the cache itself is not directly on a path. Unfortunately the cache can’t be done using a wheelchair.

We use characters in different ways as symbols for numbers. When we write for example abc, then a and b and c stand for one figure (like 1 or 2 …) each. Capital letters are numbers with more than 1 digit (like 12 or 345 …). It’s recommendable to bring a calculator!

Now find the coordinates for the next cache station:
Eliminate one of the figures which you can find twice in fghi to obtain a number C with three digits. Now calculate:
D = A + C - (gh-ig) - f*(i-f)
E = B - 38 + fgh - hi

Character b for the cache coordinates is the number of letters in the professor’s occupation (Hint: quite a long word beginning with O and ending with r) divided by (k+q).

Calculate

G = opqr - jkmn + pk
H = kmn - (p-m)
Now you’ll have to make a trip through the forest to

This station consists of two parts (hut and tree).

The hut was built J years after the tree was planted.
You can retrieve character c for the cache coordinates from the year stuc in which the tree was planted.

Now you need to look for a second tree which is situated right in the middle of the woods ... to find the right one, calculate

L = H - J*J + J
and go to

When you reach this tree, you find a sign showing a date. Add the digits of this number until you get a one digit number (example: 1998 => 1+9+9+8=27 => 2+7=9). You have just calculated d for the cache coordinates.

Calculate
M = J * 10 - 9
N = 3 * J * J - 4
and proceed to

Look around before you make the trip to Klaus. You’ll find quickly that you are vwx meters above NN (sea level).

With those numbers, you can calculate once again:

Klaus gives you a warm welcome! You can find a sign on it with three numbers in three lines. Sum up the first digits of each line and add 1. This is e for the cache coordinates!

The longest number on the sign stands for Klaus’ volume. Imagine a tap and 10 liters of water flowing out of it every minute. How many days will it take to fill up Klaus? Round the result up to a whole number to obtain R.
