The Ziegenhainer Salatkirmes (salad festival of Ziegenhain) is one of the oldest and most famous Volksfeste (peoples festivals) in Hesse. Landgrave Karl invited the people of the Schwalm landscape to taste potatoes which he wanted to be cultivated by the Schwalm farmers. Together with the potatoes he served salad and beer. In spite the inhabitants didn't like the potatoes as much as the salad they tried to grow the potatoes in the following years (in my opinion it wasn't the salad which the landgraves guests liked - as far as I know the Schwalm people it only could have been the beer). In memory of the historic feast Ziegenhain will celebrate the 300th Salatkirmes in 2028. Very impressive is the parade each year on festival sunday where the participants show traditional costumes and scenes. The Salatkirmes is celebrated on the Alleeplatz. During the summer you can taste italian icecreme on the square. My recommendation: Schwälmer Nuss.

Bring your own pen. When snow lies on the ground it may be difficult to spot the cache.

Super versteckt. Nicht gleich gefunden da an den üblichen Stellen gesucht. Da mal wieder spontan unterwegs gewesen kein Stift dabei un Photo Logg.

Auf dem Weg zum Antrifttalsee bin ich hier vorbei gekommen und habe mal einen Blick zum Cache geworfen.
Schnell wurde das Objekt erblickt und ich konnte mich ins Logbuch eintragen

Heute diesen kleinen gefunden, super Idee. Die Salatkirmes gehörte immer zum Programm. Schöne Feste hier gefeiert . Hoffe das man , nach 2 Jahren Pause, dann wieder hier zusammen kommt um diese schöne Tradition weiter zu führen. Danke für das pflegen und legen . DfdC
