Boselspitzenausblick

Near the Saxony Wine Route at the Sömewitzer area the Boselspitze is located and with its 182 m height above sea level it is the highest point in the Spaar mountains. The view over the city of Dresden and the pictorial turns of the river Elbe are impressive.

With regards to a local myth the Slav, that called their god „Boh“, had a ritual place here once upon a time. But it is more likely that the middle high german deflection of the word „bozeln“, what means something like smashing broken stones, is meant due to a quarry that has been operated there since 1935. From the masoned rondel, also called „German Bosel“, you have an impressive view over the Elbe Valley, Coswig, Weinböhla, the Lössnitz, Dresden and the Saxon Switzerland.

In the near you will find the viewpoint „Pflanzengarten Boselspitze“ what is a branch of the Botanical Garden of Dresden. The Botanical Garden at the Boselspitze is open from April to October on Wednesday 9 am to 3 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and it is for free.
