Finding Helen

The terrain is easy (no climbing), but the whole tour can consume a whole day (depending on the routes you take). I recommend to bring (light) hikingboots, something to eat and enough beverages. There are some restaurants in the area, but going there would mean a detour. Trekking-poles could be useful at some places (if only to chase away the wild boars that hikers are warned of in the area near the Kings Cave). Large parts of the tour lead through forests. It is recommended to bring a map on which you can note down the next stages. Useful is a map which covers the Hoher Lindkogel (where the only restaurant on the mountain can be found) and the paths leading up to it well. There are many paths and forest roads in the area (not all can be found in the maps). Use them well. No stage is more than appr. 25m away from a trail. There is no need to go bushwhacking for longer distances.

Parking: Near the Restaurant Hauswiese (at N48° 0.73', E16° 12.226', look for Hotel Sacher). Or near N = 48° 0,341 und E = 16° 12,617 along the road (near the former Weilburg)
Public Transport: Badner Bahn only goes until the "Kurpark" (additional 1.6 km). Look for a bus to the Helenental and get off near Sacher (sorry, I am not an expert in the reading of bus-schedules).

In addition to the hints there are Spoiler-Photos for most of the micros, as satellite-reception is not always optimal. The hiding-places are fairly obvious ones (to the eyes of a cacher). The pictures are distinguished by letters, you will find out when to apply which letter on your way.

Once upon a time ... at N 48° 0.375', E 16 ° 12.378':
In the castle preparations for the feast are going on. Count Theobald is going to be engaged to Princess Helen (still a little girl). Her arrival is expected. Nobody has ever seen Helens face as she always wears a veil. Some say that she is very ugly, others say that she is suffering from a terrible curse. Today her secret could be made public.
Together with other guests you are waiting outside the castle gates when you hear in some distance - the sound of splintering wood, clashing arms and loud cries. Once you have arrived at the spot you see: The escorting guards "not fit for pursuit", the coachman unconscious. No trace of the princess. The coachman, as soon as he is revived, tells that a bunch of masked men had ambushed the carriage. They have taken the princess an a box with precious gifts with them. The robbers had a good headstart, time to go for the hunt.
First they ran towards the south. Amazingly close to the castle you can find one of their hide-outs . The cold remains of a campfire show that this place is used on a regular basis. In the rocks below the cave, at N 48° 00.242', E 016° 12.015' you will find more clues to the robbers whereabouts.
Use hint M (and the photo, as the reception isn't too good there) for this stage. The Box is a 5x5x3cm plastic-box. Be careful near the cave and don't fall into it!

The Cachebox is a Plasticbox (very well hidden). The micros are small plastic-boxes (5x5x3cm), a film-canister and something similar, a glass and something beyond any description. (Please do not tell what it is. Make sure to rebuild the cache-hide before you leave.
