Gruesse aus Laufzorn

Greetings from Laufzorn"Laufzoro" presumably means " stubbed gathering place for hunted game and is a historical settlement area. Since May 1st 1976 Laufzorn is a district of the municipality Oberhaching. In course of the 15th century the aristocracy of Wittelsbach acquired possession of Laufzorn, primarily using its widespread meadows and woods as a so called "Schwaige" for stock-breeding. By the beginning of the 17th century, a hunting seat resembling to castle Schleissheim has been constructed, and exactly this location is marked by the coordinates given. Extensive agriculture and a brickyard have been part of this popular baronial country estate. The baroque concept for this premises unfortunately never have been completed, and already around 1800 the buildings started to decay. The 19th century was stamped by frequent alteration of its occupants. In the year 1877 the owner then professor Dr. Heinrich Ritter von Ranke ordered to build a rail link (on a stone bed!) to the ward Deisenhofen. On this 2984 meters long private "rollaway-railroad" horses moved coal to the brick work and the clay bricks back to Deisenhofen station. Over 100 workers had been employed at Laufzorn, amongst many seasonal workers from Italy. The production of bricks finally ceased in 1974. Since the 80s the former castle and its possessions, all soundly renovated by the current owner, chiefly are used as an agricultural area.
