The long-drawn-out Rhine-Weser watershed extends in the zigzag course through north, central and West Germany. It passes from the north to the south of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hessen, Bavaria and Thuringia (in the latter two Federal states specified the watershed runs times on the one and sometimes on the other side of the national borders) [1].

Waters in western directions drain to the Rhine, in eastern directions to the Weser. Over the Burgwald a section of the Rhine-Weser watershed runs between the Rothaargebirge and Kellerwald, however the predominant part drains to the south to the Lahn and thus to the Rhine. In the north closely to the border running Eder is fed opposite only by few considerable creeks from the Burgwald, because the elevator emphasis of the Mittelgebirge is clearly shifted to the North(east) [1].

Directly at the watershed a latin stonecross with rounded, sharpened ends stands. Originally the cross was subordinate in Wiesenfeld in the community forest under a powerful beech, approx. 300 m from the today's place. During the clearing 1918 the community sold the country with cross. It went into the possession of Alex Clement from Wiesenfeld. He moved the cross to the today's place, because the cross was obstructively for the usage as a field. After a legend at the original place there was a shepherd which was killed by lightning or killed by robbers, whom wanted to steal his sheep [2], [3].

Danke an ubyyn fürs Verstecken!

Viele Grüße
crisb
