WebCam - Looe, Harbour

Looe is a small coastal town and fishing port in Cornwall and is divided in two by the River Looe which flows between East and West Looe to the sea beside a sandy beach. Off shore to the west lies the picturesque St George's Island or Looe Island.
Archeological evidence from the East Looe area indicates that the area around Looe was inhabited as early as 1000 BC. 
An early wooden bridge was built over the Looe river around 1411 but this burned down and was replaced by the first stone bridge finished in 1436. This new stone bridge featured a chapel in the middle. The bridge that still exists today is a seven-arched Victorian bridge,and this was opened in 1853. Looe is a really lovely place to visit which you are sure to enjoy. 

Looe is primarily a fishing town and its fleet of small fishing boats bring their catches to port daily, so Looe has a well deserved reputation for procuring excellent fresh fish. Looe is also a centre for shark fishing and home to the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain.
